How I chose the name Lifesaver

Not many knew that I was working in another company for the past 8 months to keep GlamRockChic going. This is the story of Lifesaver and how the shoe got its name.

I had to fly to Singapore for a 3 day training and had decided to take only 1 shoe for work and 1 slipper for walks at night as I wanted to travel really light. So, without doubt, I took Lifesaver, which looked professional and at that time, was a prototype, it was a good opportunity for me to test it out.

It was the 2nd day of training that my colleague wanted to have lunch and then go to the boutiques for a market visit and on the spot training with me. Of course, I agreed but little did I realise that when Singaporeans say let's walk from here to there and there, it means, let's walk a lot. One place to the other was far in my terms and being a Malaysian, i basically never really had to walk, I just drove myself everywhere and anywhere (yes, I am lazy) So there I was, walking in the hot sun in 4" heels, going from one mall to another, all within the span of 2 hours, which meant walking really fast.

Naturally, I worry coz if I were to do that much walking, I generally prefer to walk on flats and change shoes but then again, i only had on what I had on and had to walk.

You know what, I survived and was so grateful as I did not get any chuffing on my foot, or blisters or foot burns, which I am prone to get on the ball of my feet.
And I continued to walk in this shoe alone after work in the evening, just to test it out further and I was really happy it turned out the way I wanted it to - just the right amount of padding, the slingback that did not cut into the flesh(it was designed to be longer in order to do so) and the overall look that was quite polished.

Of course, after many hours, I DID get muscle ache from all that walking on an arched angle - but tell me which high heels won't give you calf muscle cramps?

I also saw one thing that made me gasp in horror - that after all the walking we did, my colleague took off her black 1 inch pump and showed me a big piece of skin that just came off, revealing a sore, red patch of raw flesh at her heel. Apparently the shoes were new and it just rubbed off her skin while walking. I could imagine the pain but she had high tolerance to pain, hence just needed to slap on bandages. If it were me, I would be in such agony.

That's when I decided for sure, the name of my black slingbacks will be called Lifesaver.

ps : i never claim that my shoes are orthopedic shoes or won't hurt at all. some shoes are better than some, some shoes may hurt a bit more, some shoes are heaven. it is the right heel height with sensible platforms, style cut and materials that helps reduce discomfort. it has to be good enough for me in order for me to put into production. that's all. at the end of the day, it is just a pair of my designed shoe, it is not a magical shoe. peace.
