Collection 2 is just about ready. Flew in to check each and one of the shoes. It has taken more than 1 year to make the second collection and not a day goes by without me being apologetic about it to web customers, the one and only shop that carries my label and new interested retailers. It has been very difficult to move on when you live day by day in trepidation, not knowing when will your next designs be ready.
Why does it take so long? Again and again I have to explain to people that it takes time to make a shoe from drawing up. Unless of course, I own the factory and they have nothing better to do than to make my shoes. 100% concentration on me me and only me. Of course, reality is not like that, for a factory to survive, they need volume. And GlamRockChic is only a small dismissible volume to them.
Why do they do my shoes then? I would like to think that the owner sees determination in me and a strong need to succeed despite not having much. I also would like to think that in today's world of rampant design copying, he is intrigued by someone who still wants to design and not buy and slap on her logo onto a ready made design, which is also a copy of something that has already been in the market. Intrigued although annoyed sometimes at my stubbornness on insisting on my designs.
Yes, i like to think it as that. For now.
I don't know where GlamRockChic will go but I hope it is towards a better outlook for 2012.
